What is Mindfulness?"Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes, being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way." James Baraz

Join Us at Burlington Mindfulness Based in Burlington, Ontario, our drop-in group meets twice a month to talk about and practice mindfulness, meditation, and related topics. Everyone is welcome to attend and pre-registration is not required. Mindfulness practice is an effective way of coping with stress, anxiety disorders, depression, grief, pain, and helps to cultivate more calm and inner peace. Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. It sounds straightforward, but can be challenging. We are often distracted from the present moment by thoughts, worries, emotions, technology and excess information. We go through our days, weeks, and months on “auto-pilot” instead of living in an intentional, appreciative, and mindful way. We rarely make time for quiet reflection, which we need now more than ever in our stressful world. There are many ways to be mindful in addition to meditation. "Every one of us already has the seed of mindfulness. The practice is to cultivate it." Thich Nhat Hanh |
